Donation Reporting is an important part of community trust.
Donation Reporting is an important element in recovery, building trust between donors and recipient communities, recognising contributions made and allowing communities to support donor companies in the form of community thanks, reciprocal recognition and understanding donation flows into a region. This has an additional benefit of ensuring communities are aware of inbound donation flows and timing of those for people in need.
When that trust relationship is broken by lack of transparency, communities start to suffer, as donor efforts to go above and beyond in helping communities recovery can be overlooked, creating a negative experience and impair future donation intentions. Transparency in giving is an important part of a 2-way exchange of value in communities. Whilst we recognise that for some philanthropic efforts, anonymity is sometimes preferred, we think its important to build trust between donors and recipients, so that mutual value is created. In this fire season, we've seen many small businesses stepping into the void when NGO and government agencies have been missing in action.
Democracy and trust is corroded when giving occurs behind closed doors and secret agreements. We want to use this transparency challenge to shine light onto donor efforts across a broad range of community initiatives, knowing that on-ground volunteers can sometimes be overwhelmed with tracking inbound donations as they arrive by the truckload. This is our way of turning that situation around and helping small businesses get some recognition for stepping up, when many of them will be facing intense financial pressure from fire impacts and now the COVID-19 pandemic.
We're setting up honour walls for a broad range of fire-impacted communities to provide local communities within the area a way of seeing, supporting and recognising generosity of local and out-of-area businesses. If you've donated or are aware of donations to a region, we're liaising with local volunteers to verify and provide a way for local communities to see, respond and understand who's played a part in their recovery journeys.
